NEW HAVEN, Conn.  – The Yale women's volleyball team hopes history repeats itself this weekend.  The Bulldogs open the 2010 season on Friday by hosting the Yale Invitational, an event they have swept each of the last three seasons.  The Bulldogs host Stony Brook on Friday night at 7 p.m., and finish up on Saturday at home with matches against Quinnipiac (1 p.m.) and Rhode Island (7 p.m.).

The Bulldogs finished last season 21-4 and 11-3 in Ivy play.  This year, Yale features a combination of youth and skill.  The squad showcases one senior and three juniors on this season's roster, but have three all-Ivy honorees returning, including senior team captain Kelly Ozurovich at the libero position, junior Bridget Hearst (opposite hitter) and sophomore Kerry Clavadetscher (setter).

Stony Brook, of the America East Conference, dropped to 0-4 this season after a 3-0 loss at St. John's on Aug. 31.  The Seawolves return two all-conference selections from a year ago – senior middle blocker Ashley Headen and sophomore Corinne Perry.

Quinnipiac (0-3) opened its season last weekend in Massachusetts and lost matches to Holy Cross, Fordham and Boston College.  The Bobcats, who play in the Northeast Conference, return their top setter, Kayla Lawler, and leading hitter, Kelby Carey.

Rhode Island went 1-2 last weekend at the Colgate Invitational to begin its season.  Following an opening win against Fairfield, the Rams lost to Colgate and Syracuse.  Rhody, of the Atlantic 10 Conference, lost only one senior from its 2009 roster.
