Dig Pink! Join Yale This Friday to Spread Breast Cancer Awareness

Yale Hosts Dartmouth on Friday at 7 p.m.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Join the Yale volleyball team this Friday to "Dig Pink" – and support breast cancer awareness.

The Bulldogs are one of thousands of teams around the country that will be participating in The Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally.

"I'm excited that we are a dig pink conference this year," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said.  "I'm happy that our players are learning about breast cancer and spreading the awareness. Hopefully someday soon there will be a cure."

Fans attending the match on Friday at 7 p.m. match against Dartmouth are asked to be involved by wearing pink.  In addition, fans may make monetary donation at the John J. Lee Amphitheater in New Haven.

"Dig Pink" tee-shirts will be sold on Friday night for $20 and the proceeds will go to the Bulldogs' fund to donate to the foundation.  Supporters may make other donations at the match on Friday.

You may also donate online.

The proceeds from all donations will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

The term side-out refers to a situation in volleyball when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play. It is hoped that Side-Out will do the same for breast cancer patients, providing them with the support, education and best available treatments to regain control of their lives.
