Johnson Earns Ivy League Honor
Shares Rookie Of Week Award
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Kelly Johnson, who tallied 24 kills, 38 assists and 16 digs as the Yale volleyball team extended its winning streak to 11 consecutive matches with victories over Columbia and Cornell over the weekend, has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Johnson, who has now won or shared Rookie of the Week honors four times this season, hit .333 for the weekend and committed just four errors. In a four-set win over Columbia, she had her fourth triple-double of the year with 13 kills, 17 assists and 11 digs. Johnson followed that up with 11 kills and 21 assists in a four-set win over Cornell.
In addition, Mollie Rogers and Haley Wessels were named to the Honor Roll. Rogers had 21 kills and 30 digs in the two wins, while Wessels tallied 12 kills, hit .524 and added nine blocks in the win over Columbia.
The first-place Bulldogs (14-5, 10-0 Ivy) travel to Penn on Friday and are at Princeton on Saturday.
