Polan Named Honorable Mention All-America
Ivy League Player of the Year Polan Receives National Honor
NEW HAVEN -- Kendall Polan, a Yale junior and the Ivy League Player of the Year, has been named a 2012 AVCA Division I Honorable Mention All-America.
Polan, the reigning two-time Ivy League Player of the Year, was named to the AVCA Northeast All-Region team earlier this month. Polan led the Bulldogs in assists and ranked third in kills.
"This is a tremendous honor for Kendall and for the Yale volleyball program," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said.
A Cardiff, Calif., native, Polan earned first team All-Ivy status after ranking in conference top-10 in assists (5th) and digs (9th). Polan produced seven triple-doubles (kills, assists and digs) during the season.
Polan combined with freshman Kelly Johnson for over 1,000 assists for the Bulldogs, who ranked 11th in the nation as a team in assists per set. The duo led Yale to the fourth-highest kill per set average in the nation this season.
