Ebner Earns Ivy League Honor
Named Co-Player Of Week
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Jesse Ebner, who had 27 kills and hit .321 in three matches at the Penn State Classic, has been named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week.
Ebner, a sophomore from Portola Valley, Calif., earned all-tournament honors as the Bulldogs won two of three matches, falling only to top-ranked Penn State. In a 3-1 victory over Eastern Kentucky, Ebner posted a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs to go along with four aces and four blocks.
Ebner becomes the third different Yale player to earn an Ivy weekly honor this year. Kelly Johnson was the Player of the Week on Sept. 10 and Brittani Steinberg earned Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 17.
"Jesse was outstanding the last two weeks," said Yale head coach Erin Appleman. "She plays hard and is an awesome teammate. This is our third player to be honored in three weeks so it speaks to the depth this team has."
The Bulldogs (6-3) open Ivy League play on Saturday when they host Brown at 5 p.m. at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
