Senior Earns Award for Efforts on the Court and in the Classroom
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale senior middle blocker McHaney Carter has been recognized as one of the nation's top student-athletes for her combined performance on the court and in the classroom.
Carter has been named to the 2013‐14 Capital One Academic All‐District I Volleyball First Team. District I includes Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
"McHaney works really hard on and off the court," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said. "I'm really proud of her efforts to be successful. At Yale, you have the opportunity to have the best of both worlds and McHaney has done just that. She has succeeded in both the classroom and the court."
First‐team Academic All‐District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All‐America Team ballot, where first‐, second‐ and third‐team All‐America honorees will be selected later this month.
A native of Southlake, Texas, Carter continues to lead the Bulldogs with 50 blocks and holds the team's second-best hitting percentage at .309 hitting.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a two-match lead in the Ivy League standings, with four conference matches remaining.
