Appleman Wins 200th at Yale; Bulldogs Down Princeton
Bulldogs Dominate at Net, Produce 12 Total Blocks
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Head coach Erin Appleman and the Bulldogs continue to set new winning marks.
Tonight, the Bulldogs defeated Princeton in four and Appleman earned her 200th win at Yale.
The scores of tonight's match were 18-25, 25-16, 25-20 and 25-20. Yale improved 18-4 overall and 12-1 in conference.
Yale travels to Penn tomorrow to wrap up its Ivy League schedule with a 7 p.m. start in Philadelphia.
The Bulldogs outblocked and outhit the Tigers. Yale held a 12-4 edge in team blocks and hit .317 for the match.
Mollie Rogers, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week, posted a team-high 13 kills, hit .353 for the match and added 11 digs. Kendall Polan added 45 assists on 50 Yale kills.
With the match tied at one, Yale broke the match open in the third set. Tori Shepherd came up with back-to-back digs that led to a pass to Polan, who set up Rogers to begin a 7-3 run.
Rogers accounted for Yale's next two points and Polan gave Yale the lead at 17-16 with an ace.
Carter, who hit .471 with nine kills, delivered a solo block on the next point and force a Princeton timeout. Carter also finished with a season-high three solo blocks to go with four block assists.
Rogers added a block on the following point to give Yale a 19-16 lead and the Tigers would not get any closer.
Maya Midzik jumpstarted the Bulldogs in the fourth set and broke a 15-all tie with a block. Two points later, she slammed consecutive kills and prompted a Princeton timeout.
Midzik finished with 11 kills and hit .368. with four total blocks.
