Yale Honored for Success in Classroom During 2013-14 Season
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- After a fourth straight Ivy championship, the Bulldogs extended a streak for another meaningful title: the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 season.
For the eighth straight season, the Yale women's volleyball team was honored today for its academic success. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
"The Yale volleyball program takes great pride in our success on the court and in the classroom," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said. "Winning the Ivy League and finishing the academic year in great shape at a world class university like Yale is something we strive for each season."
In 2013, Yale won 20 matches, went 13-1 in the Ivy League and earned its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. In addition, five Bulldogs earned All-Ivy status, while senior McHaney Carter was named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball First Team.
The Bulldogs open the 2014 season at home against Minnesota on Sept. 5.
