NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale first-year outside hitter Kathyrn Attar was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The Tampa, Fla., native Attar had a season-high 19 kills, added 10 digs and hit .368 in a 3-1 over Penn on Friday night. Attar accounted for the first four Yale points of the deciding fourth set against Penn. She followed it up with 12 digs, 7 kills and 4 blocks against the Tigers on Saturday.
"I couldn't be happier for Kat, this is a great honor for her," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said.
Attar, an outside hitter, averaged 3.25 kills and 2.75 digs over eight sets for the weekend. She ended the week ranked 10th in kills per set and points per set in Ivy League only matches for the season to date.
In addition, juniors Kate Swanson and Kelley Wirth were named to the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll. Swanson set a career-high for a four-set match -- and an overall season high -- for digs in a match with 25 in a loss to first-place Princeton, while Wirth averaged 3.38 kills per set last weekend.
The Bulldogs (8-4, 2-1 Ivy) host Columbia and Cornell this weekend.
