NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's volleyball team, which clinched its sixth Ivy League title in the last eight seasons, will host Princeton this Saturday at 7 p.m. to determine the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs, who won their eight title in the last 15 years, tied with the Tigers at 10-4 overall in the league standings. Yale earned the right to host the one-match playoff because it won four of the seven sets against the Tigers this season.
The two teams split their meetings this season, with Yale and Princeton winning on the opponent's home court. The duo has combined to represent the Ivy League in five of the past six NCAA Tournaments.
This is the fourth time the Bulldogs have competed in a conference playoff, with the most recent happening in 2014 when Yale defeated Harvard in Cambridge to earn a spot in the NCAAs.
Yale is one of two Ivy League programs to have earned an NCAA Tournament win—advancing to the second round in 2004 and 2008.
