ORLANDO, FLA. -- The Bulldogs bounced back with a sweep of Alabama State in their second match of the day at the VolleyKnights Invitational on Friday evening.
The scores of the match were 25-15, 25-14 and 25-11. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 6-2 overall and will face host UCF tomorrow at 1 p.m.
After a 3-1 loss to FGCU earlier in the day, the Bulldogs served up 13 aces -- their highest mark since November 24, 2015 -- and brought intensity to get back on the winning track.
From the first serve that ultimately resulted in a kill from Kelley Wirth to kickstart a quick 5-1 lead for Yale. At one point in the frame, Yale led 19-11 after a kill from Florida native Kathryn Attar.
Wirth and Chiara Spain provided timely points throughout the match. Wirth finished with an team-high nine kills on an efficient 13 swings without an error to hit .692. Spain, Attar and Ellis DeJardin all finished with seven kills each.
