NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs defeated Princeton, 3-2, before a national television audience and a raucous Lee Amphitheater crowd on Friday night. The scores of the match were 25-23, 25-15, 15-25, 23-25 and 15-12.
With the win, Yale took sole possession of first place in the Ivy standings. The Bulldogs improved to 14-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference. Kelley Wirth had a team-high 24 kills and hit .391 to pace the Bulldogs, who host Penn tomorrow at 5 p.m.
In a match that went down to the last few points, the Bulldogs made plays in the final set including six kills from Wirth. Samantha Bray, fresh off winning Ivy League Rookie of the Week, had 13 kills and hit .375. Frances Arnautou dished out 48 assists and had 15 digs while adding seven blocks for Yale, which improved to 7-0 at home this season.
