David Foster, a former volunteer coach at Missouri in 1993 and 1994, joins Erin Appleman's staff this season.
In 2002, in his first season as head coach at Weston (CT) High School, he led the team to its first state tournament appearance in 21 years.
Foster's primary responsibilities at Yale, include recruiting and scouting. He also coached at volleyball camps at Fairfield and Penn State in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
His collegiate career as an outside hitter spanned three different schools. Foster played at Long Island in 1992 and then transferred to Montana State for two seasons, leading the team in kill percentage, digs and aces. He led the NCAA in digs per game in his last season at Quincy University in 1996.
Foster also coached skiing at Fairfield Prep (CT) where he won three state championships in three years.
A native of Guilford, Conn., Foster competed for USA Volleyball at the AA level from 2001 to 2003 and still plays in outdoor doubles tournaments at the Open level. Foster is engaged to current Yale volleyball assistant coach Ashlie Case.
