Yale Breezes Past St. Francis

New Haven, Conn. - The Yale University women's volleyball team easily defeated the St. Francis College Terriers in early action at the Yale Invitational Saturday morning at the John J. Lee Amphitheater. The Elis used a relentless attack from beginning to end to defeat St. Francis 3-0 (30-6, 30-11, 30-8). Yale improves to 4-1 on the season while St. Francis now sits at 0-11.

Yale dominated the game in all aspects, most notably in the hitting percentage category. While the Bulldogs hit a superb .486 for the match, they equaled their brilliance with their defense, holding the Terriers to a -.250 hitting percentage.

Youth played a big part in the victory for Yale as freshmen Courtney Hall (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) led all players with nine kills on the match while hitting .750. Fellow freshman Allison Kaptur (Evergreen, Colo.) impressed in her Yale debut registering a pair of kills and three blocks. Jacqueline Coe also played well as she racked up four kills and four blocks.

Senior leadership also pitched in as captain Christy Paluf (Highland Heights, Oh.) led Yale with nine digs and Jacqueline Becker (Newport Beach, Calif.) had a game-high 18 assists.

The Bulldogs finish the weekend tournament in the night-cap of the afternoon session when the host Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m.
