NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- On Friday, a contingent of Yale athletes will drop down in distance and race at the CCSU Mini Meet. This meet has consistently been a staple in the Yale competition schedule and this year nine Bulldogs will travel to race the 3k.
The meet is hosted by Central Connecticut State University and held at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn. Yale athletes will compete in the sub-varsity race and varsity race, set to start at 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
In past years, the team has finished towards the top of the field at this meet, finishing in the top three each of the past three years.
Coming off an impressive performance at Pre-Nationals last weekend and in preparation for the upcoming Ivy League Heptagonal Championship on Oct. 27, the top seven will rest this weekend.
For some athletes, this will be their last competition of the cross country season before they begin to transition to indoor track preparation while others will go on to compete at the Ivy League Championship.
Regardless, the 3k course provides an opportunity to prepare for the shorter distances on the track.
A junior contingent of Lauren Chapey, Hannah Steffke and Rachel Suss will compete on Friday. Sophomores Chloe Jensen, Sarah Pillard and Megan Quimby will also be racing. The returners will be joined by first-years Samantha Friborg, Abigail Long and Emma Pindur.
Results will be posted on www.yalebulldogs.com as soon as available.
