NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- A subset of the Yale women's cross country team competed at the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday. The varsity team finished in the top half of the field overall, coming in sixth as a team.
Sophomore Megan Quimby led the Bulldogs in the varsity race. She finished 15th overall and crossed the line in a time of 10:40, which is over 40 seconds faster than her finish last year at this same meet. Middle-distance specialist Samantha Friborg was the second Yale athlete to cross the line, finishing 24th overall with a time of 10:51.
Junior Lauren Chapey was the third Bulldog to cross the line in less than 11 minutes, running a time of 10:57. She was followed closely behind by Chloe Jensen (11:05) and Rachel Suss (11:07). Hannah Steffke and Sarah Pillard rounded out the varsity group of the day.

The next race for the Yale women's cross country race marks the beginning of the championship season: the Ivy League Cross Country Championship. This year, the meet is hosted by Princeton and returns to West Windsor Fields in Princeton N.J.
