Yale Finishes Fourth at Heptagonal Championship

NEW YORK - The Yale women's cross country team finished fourth at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y., on Friday morning. Bulldog freshman Cara Kiernan was Yale's top finisher and was named a first-team all-league selection.

The Bulldogs finished with 117 points, trailing Dartmouth (86), Princeton (38) and first-place Columbia (30). Rounding out the last four teams were Cornell (147), Penn (176), Harvard (180) and Brown (187).

Kiernan finished fifth with a time of 17:40.6. She was the only runner not from Columbia, Dartmouth or Princeton to finish in the top 15. Princeton's Emily Kroshus (17:15.8) took the individual crown.

Susan Chan (18:28.5) was the next highest finish for the Bulldogs at 27th. Also running for Yale were Anne Martin (18:34.4/29th), Nadia Sawicki (18:36.2/31st), Emily Vince 18:43.3/36th), Ashley Campbell (18:51.1/41st), Melissa Donais (19:01.2/50th), Lauren Davis (19:18.1/65th), Claire Hamilton (19:19.9/66th) and Vanessa Everding (19:20.7/67th).
