TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Junior Lindsay Donaldson (Lincoln, Mass.) finished a stunning third with a time of 20:42.7 at the NCAA Cross Country Championship Monday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course at Indiana State's Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. In addition to earning her All-America status, Donaldson's finish ties the third-best ever by an Ivy League woman.

"It was a brilliant race by Lindsay," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Mark Young. "She did a wonderful job of course management in the tough conditions."

The conditions were difficult as the course was muddy and had a lot of standing water slowing down all the runners. Sally Kipyego of Texas Tech was first with a time of 20:11.1, followed by Colorado's Jenny Barringer (20:37.9).

"It was slippery, but I had fun," said Donaldson. "It was a real honor to represent the team and Yale at the national level and a good experience after last year."

Last year Donaldson finished 41st with a time of 20:35.4. In her freshman year she was sixth with a time of 20:40, the best finish by any freshman in the race. She earned All-America honors for the first time that year.

The only Ivy Leaguers to finish higher than Donaldson were Kate O'Neill (Yale) in 2002 and Caroline Bierbaum (Columbia) in 2005. They both finished second.
