NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale cross country star Lindsay Donaldson has qualified for the NCAA Championship after posting an eighth-place finish (20:54.6) in the Northeast Regional Saturday. The qualifiers were announced Sunday by The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee.
Last year, Donaldson earned All-America recognition when she finished sixth overall in the 6000-meter race with a time of 20:40, the best finish by any of the freshmen in the race. She tied the mark for the second-best finish ever by an Ivy League woman.
Donaldson was one of four individual qualifiers from the region this year. The first four athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team and two additional qualifiers were selected to participate in the championship.
Indiana State University will host the 2005 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships Monday Nov. 21 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center, Terre Haute, Indiana. The men's race will begin at noon Eastern time followed by the women's race at 1:15 p.m.
