Bennett joined the Yale Athletic Department in the fall of 1994 as the assistant director of sports publicity. He serves as the contact for men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and women’s crew and also is a member of the football game-day statistics crew.
During his tenure, he has had the opportunity to work numerous NCAA, Ivy League and special events, including serving as the media venue chief for basketball during the 1995 Special Olympics World Games, which were held in New Haven.
Bennett also served as the official scorer for the New Haven Ravens Double A baseball team from 1996 to 2001.
Prior to arriving at Yale, Bennett was the sports editor of the Darien News-Review in Southwestern Connecticut.
Following graduation from the University of Dayton, Bennett spent two years as an intern in the Office of Athletic Communication at Princeton, where he was contact for men’s and women’s soccer, men’s hockey and baseball.
Bennett is a 1989 graduate of UD where he served as the assistant sports editor of the Flyer News and was the recipient of the Brother George F. Kohles Award for excellence in journalism.
A native of Westport, Conn., Bennett currently resides in North Branford with his wife Lynn, daughter Christina and son Hayden.
