No. 1 Bulldogs to Fleet Race at Home

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - This weekend, the Yale coed sailing team is sending two teams to the Ivy Championship for the Owen, Mosbacher and Knapp Trophies, which will held on home waters in Branford, Conn., on Saturday and Sunday. A group will also travel to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., for the Thompson Trophy.

Strong breeze is expected at both venues throughout the weekend. Forecasts call for a building southwesterly on Saturday and a 15-23 knot westerly on Sunday at the McNay Family Sailing Center. Forecasts are similar at the Coast Guard Academy.

Skippers senior Mitchell Kiss and junior Casey Klingler, repsectively, will sail A and B division on Yale Team 1 at the Ivy Championship with crews seniors Natalya Doris and Charles Skoda, junior Caroline Colwell and freshman Chrissie Klingler.

Sailing on the second team are skippers junior captain Malcolm Lamphere and sophomore Nick Hernandez with crews senior Amelia Dobronyi and sophomore Kira Woods. Freshman skipper Dylan DiMarchi will sub in for either Lamphere or Hernandez for a number of races.

Heading to the Thompson Trophy, a three-division event, are skippers senior Ian Barrows, sophomore Nic Baird and freshman Louisa Nordstrom with crews senior Clara Robertson, freshman Graceann Nicolosi and senior Isabelle Rossi de Leon, respectively, in A, B and C divisions. Junior crew Christopher Champa will also travel with the group and sub in if the wind is substantial in velocity.
