NEWPORT, RI - The Bulldogs are in first place with a 9-0 record after day one of the Laser Performance Team Race National Championship hosted by Brown University at Sail Newport in Rhode Island.

Yale has been practicing all season for the event and has just one loss in a team race regatta. Its skill was evidenced during the first day of the Team Race National Championships, were the Elis were the only team to go undefeated.

The four rotating skippers for the Bulldogs in this competition are senior Nic Baird, senior Nick Hernandez, junior Chrissie Klingler, and sophomore Shawn Harvey. The crews for the Bulldogs are senior Kira Woods, junior Graceann Nicolosi, sophomore Claudia Loiacono, sophomore Sonia Lingos-Utley, and first year Sam Tobin.

The Bulldogs have won against the U.S. Naval Academy, University of Michigan, Bowdoin College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Stanford University, University of Washington, Jacksonville University, Boston College, and the University of California at Santa Barbara. They will complete the round robin on Day 2 against the teams they have not faced. Depending on the race committees discretion they may face another round robin before being seeded into the 8 boat fleet gold and silver splits. The top four teams from the gold fleet will progress to the petite final, and the final two will face each other in the finals.
