Yale in 6th at Gil coed Easterns

Baird Has A Division Lead

NEWPORT, RI – The Bulldogs are in sixth at the Gil Coed Eastern Semifinals at Sail Newport with 154 points, just 4 points shy of the top five. The day began with a wind delay before 10 races were sailed in each division

 

In A division, senior Nic Baird sailed with sophomore Sonia Lingos-Utley. The pair are tied for first in A division with 59 points. Baird is a finalist for College Sailing's Coed Sailor of the Year, and this outstanding performance will aid his contention for the prestigious award.

 

In B division, sophomore Shawn Harvey skippered the first three sets with junior crew Graceann Nicolosi. The last two sets were sailed by junior skipper All-American Louisa Nordstrom and sophomore crew Claudia Loiaccono. The Bulldogs are in tenth in B division with 95 points.

 

The Bulldogs still have up to 16 races left that can be sailed at this competition, leaving plenty of rom for them to rise through the standings and prove
