The Bulldogs open the home portion of their Ivy League schedule this weekend with a three-game series against Brown.  The teams will play one game on Friday afternoon and a doubleheader on Saturday.

Yale is coming off a 5-3 loss against Hartford on Wednesday.  Cole Shelton and Cal Christofori, both first-year players, each had two hits in the game.

Christofori singled home fellow first-year Teddy Hague in the second to tie the game at 1-1, and in the fifth Shelton led off with a triple and scored on a single by classmate Harry Hegeman, who is hitting .345 in his first 29 at bats.  Hague is batting .333 in 27 at bats.

Hegeman was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week last Monday.  He is the second Bulldog in 2018 to receive a weekly honor -- Simon Whiteman was named conference player of the week earlier this season.

Yale pitchers also got some midweek work in on Wednesday.  The Bulldogs used 10 pitchers against, and received scoreless-inning performances from Jackson Bandow, Bobby Cecere, Justin Ager, Tyler Sapsford and Alex Stiegler.

Brown took two of three games from Penn last weekend to open its Ivy season.  The Bears come to New Haven with a 6-10 overall record after dropping a pair of non-conference games this week to Bryant and Central Connecticut State.

Last season, the Bulldogs took three of four games against Brown and split a doubleheader in New Haven.
