NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- First-year Jake Gehri was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
In his first conference series, Gehri against Brown went 6 for 13 with three homers, nine RBI and seven runs scored. He also had his second multi-homer game of the season in a 15-3 win over Brown on Saturday.
"Jake has been huge for us," Yale head coach John Stuper said. "Doesn't seem to get caught up in the moment.....ever. This kid is physically and mentally strong. Works hard to improve every day."
The Buckley, Wash., native enters the week with a .355 batting average, 20 RBI and a team-leading six homers. In addition, he has a .444 on-base percentage in 2019.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday with a game at Hartford. This weekend they open the home portion of their Ivy schedule with a three-game series against Cornell.
