Dec. 16, 2005
Former Yale Hurler Colin Ward-Henninger '05 has signed a professional contract with the Chico Outlaws of the Golden League. He was one of just 39 players offered a contract after a league-wide tryout earlier this week.
Ward-Henninger is the 22nd player to sign a contract during head coach John Stuper's tenure in New Haven. He averaged better than a strike out per-inning during his senior season and finished his Eli career with 1.74 K/BB ratio in nearly 60 innings pitched. He is the second pitcher from the class of '05 to go pro, joining Josh Sowers who was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft.
The Golden League is an independent league comprised of six teams (Chico Outlaws, Fullerton Flyers, Long Beach Armada, Reno Silver Sox, San Diego Surf Dawgs, and the Yuma Scorpions) who play from early June through the end of August. Ward-Henninger and the Outlaws start their season on June 2 when they host the Flyers.
