Yale Set to Race at San Diego Crew Classic

Yale Set to Race at San Diego Crew Classic

Yale Heads West

NEW HAVEN, CT - This weekend Yale races in the San Diego Crew Classic, one of rowing's premier spring regattas. The race offers Yale an opportunity to compete against west coast crews like Cal and Stanford before the IRA National Championships.

The two-day event begins this Saturday. With just Yale and UC Berkeley racing in the 1V event, both crews have a solo row down the course on Saturday. On Sunday, the Bulldogs and the Bears compete for the Copley Cup. Last year, UC Berkeley won the event with Yale finishing second.

Yale's 2V races in the heat on Saturday. The top four finishers progress to Sunday's A final.  Last year, the Elis finished third behind UC Berkeley (gold) and Northeastern (silver).

The official racing schedule should be available by Friday afternoon. A link can be found here.

The San Diego Crew Classic began in 1973. The race has become one of the largest in the United States consisting of over 100 races drawing more than 4000 athletes. More information about the event's history can be found here.
