NEW HAVEN, Conn. — This weekend, the No. 5 Yale lightweights will travel to Philadelphia to compete for the Marcellus Hartley Dodge Cup against the No. 3 Penn Quakers and No. 6 Columbia Lions. The Cup, raced for since 1955, is awarded to the winning first varsity crew. Yale has won the Cup most recently in 2016 and 2017. Columbia, the reigning National Champions, are the current holders of the Cup and are returning six athletes from last year's winning crew. Penn last won the Cup in 1992.
The Yale lightweights enter their third weekend of spring racing with sweeping wins over both the Naval Academy and Georgetown. This weekend, all three programs will race four lightweight eights. Racing begins Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the fourth varsity eights.
Fourth Varsity Eight: 9:00 a.m.
Third Varsity Eight: 9:20 a.m.
Second Varsity Eight: 9:40 a.m.
Varsity Eight (Marcellus Hartley Dodge Cup): 10:00 a.m.
