New Haven, Conn. - The men's fencing team had a strong performance at Brandeis, finishing the meet with wins against Boston College, Brandeis, MIT, and University of the Incarnate word. Their only loss was to St. John's highly-ranked team.
All three squads had impressive showings during the day. The saber fencers did not drop a single match against University of the Incarnate Word's squad. The foil squad won eight of their nine matches against Brandeis and even managed to pull out a narrow victory against the St. John's squad. The epeeists also managed to win seven of their matches against MIT.
Some particularly strong performances came from Cameron Allen, who swept his bouts against MIT and Boston College; Walter Musgrave, who went undefeated against the Beavers, and Jonathan Xu, who was victorious in all of his matches against University of the Incarnate Word.
With such a fine performance from both new and veteran members of the team, the Bulldogs are ready to go into the new year.
The Elis will compete next in January at the Penn State Invitational.
