No. 2 Clarkson Takes 4-1 Decision

DeMontis Nets SHG For Elis

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Yale men's hockey team faced one of its greatest challenges of the season tonight on the road against the No. 2 team in the country. Clarkson got goals from three different players on the way to a 4-1 win that improved its record to 19-4-2 (11-1-1 ECAC).

The Bulldogs (9-10-1, 6-8-1) played well enough to put a scare into one of the nation's hottest teams, outshooting the Golden Knights 28-25. It just wasn't enough shots on net.

The Yale penalty kill came up big in the first period by erasing a five-minute advantage. The home team managed to get one 5-on-5 before intermission, but the Elis spent a lot of energy to keep it close.

Robbie DeMontis turned the table on the Golden Knights midway through the second after the Bulldogs were called for another penalty. The sophomore forward took a feed from Joe Snively and beat Jake Kielly for a shorthanded tally to even the contest.

The Blue continued to go to the box in the second and it eventually cost the visitors a goal. Five minutes after Yale evened the score, Clarkson's power play found the net to make it 2-1. The Knights added an early third-period tally…..

Junior goalie Sam Tucker finished with 21 saves for Yale.
