In Dublin's Fair City, Where Bulldogs are Pretty...
DUBLIN, Ireland – The Yale Men's Hockey Team is in Ireland this week for the 2018 Friendship Four Tournament in Belfast. The Bulldogs skate against Union on Friday at 10 a.m. ET in the first semifinal. Boston University and Connecticut play in the second contest. The Elis depart Tuesday morning for Belfast to prepare for the tournament.
Different members of the Yale traveling party will provide thoughts during the week.
Arriving in Dublin earlier this morning, the team got its first taste of the famous city today. After a meal at the Brazen Head, Ireland's oldest pub, the lads were treated to a guided tour of the city, including historical sites like the churches, key buildings and statues (like Molly Malone) and commercial areas like Temple Bar and Grafton Street. The Bulldogs spent free time wandering Dublin and connecting with family, who had made the trip, before enjoying a meal at Taylors Rock Tree Cabaret, where entertainment included traditional Irish songs and dancing. Amongst the standout performers were Robbie DeMontis, who received a loud ovation for his ability on the drums, and Luke Stevens, who tipped and tapped his way into glory with the help of the female Irish dancers. As tonight winds down, the guys are excited to head to Belfast in the morning to strap on the pads for the first time, but they will leave with great memories of this famous Irish city.
