12 Added to Defending Tourney Champs

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's lacrosse team, which has earned consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament by winning the last two Ivy League Tournaments, has added 12 newcomers who will help continue its success.

The new Bulldogs come from seven different states and a Canadian province. They include six midfielders, three defensemen, two attackmen and a goalie. Six of the newcomers earned All-America honors in high school.

Your first opportunity to see the new Elis is this weekend at Hofstra University where Yale plays two games as part of a tournament in partnership with the HEADstrong Foundation. The team is home next weekend to host the annual Christian Prince Alumni Game.

Yale, 13-3 overall and 5-1 Ivy, was ranked No. 1 for multiple weeks last season before finishing No. 3 in the final USILA Poll. The Eli defense was eighth with 8.13 goals allowed per game, while the offense scored at a 12.38 clip, 10th among Division I teams.

Colin Courtney

Before Yale: Two-time winner of scholarship award given by Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association… won the Inter-AC invitational… North American Lacrosse Tournament Honors winner (NALI)… Played on a nationally ranked team… All-Tournament runner up twice… All-Team Tournament winner… Played one year of hockey… won Gold-A award 7 times, given to a student with a two-term cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.7 (on a 4.0 scale).

Personal: Colin Daniel Scott Courtney is the son of Anne and Scott Courtney…has a brother Matt who attends Waterloo University (Ontario, Canada) … Mother graduated from Waterloo University in 1988…Intended major is in Economics and Mathematics.


Lucas Cotler

Before Yale: Played all four years in lacrosse at midfield at Syosset High School… US Lacrosse All-American… Under Armour All-American… twice named captain of varsity lacrosse… earned four letters in lacrosse… First Team All-Long Island… Second Team All-Metro… All-Conference 2014, All-County 2015-2016… played in the Under Armour Underclass Tournament… Four-time scholar athlete… Two-time county champions… 2016 Long Island Champions.

Personal: Lucas Cotler is the son of Richard and Robyn Cotler. He is also the brother of Benny and Ethan Cotler.

Personal: Robert Jackson Morrill is the son of Mary Page Michel and Mike Morrill… Older brother, Zeke, plays lacrosse at Georgetown in the class of 2018… Father won two national lacrosse championships at Johns Hopkins and was a 2016 inductee to the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame… Great grandfather, Kelso Morrill, and grandfather, Bill Morrill, are also in the hall of fame… Only family with three generations in US Lacrosse Hall of Fame… Mom played lacrosse at Dartmouth.
