NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It was the perfect way to cap off a weekend celebration of alumni that included tributes to last spring's national championship run.  On a gorgeous, New England fall afternoon before 1,284 at Reese Stadium, the Yale men's lacrosse team hosted Notre Dame in an exhibition contest.

The 2017 NCAA Champions hosted an alumni golf outing on Friday before many of those folks took part in Saturday's alumni game against the varsity team. The champions, who had a ring ceremony at Reese after, were honored on the field at Yale Bowl during halftime of the football game a few hours later.

The Irish, who played a game at Harvard on Saturday, and the Elis were very evenly matched in four separate, 15-minute contests. Junior Jackson Morrill and senior Brendan Rooney each had three goals for the Bulldogs, while sophomore Jack Starr (6 saves) and senior Hoyt Crance combined for 11 saves.

Yale, which also had goals from rookie Matt Brandau and sophomore Christian Cropp, finished with eight goals on the day. The Elis allowed 10 overall to the visitors.

"It felt intense and it was good to see where we are as a team. It felt good to play an intense game in the fall," said Yale Head Coach Andy Shay. "It was good to honor last year's team and turn the page [on that season]. It's been an eventful weekend and I'm pretty tired."
