The Yale Bulldogs fell 4-1 to St. John's Sunday in a hard-fought match at the Cullman Heyman Tennis Center. Matches will resume at home this coming Saturday and Sunday against Buffalo and Brown, respectively.

The Elis got off to a particularly strong start in doubles, proving their lineup worthy of competing toe-to-toe against the most formidable teams. Senior captain Nathan Brown and junior Dylan King were able to secure a win at the No. 2 position for the Bulldogs 6-3 over experienced St. John's duo Andrei Crapcenco and Luka Sucevic. Soon after, junior Andrew Heller and first year Arnav Dhingra closed out the doubles point for Yale with a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position.

St. John's refused to yield going into singles play, however, with several courts getting off to an early lead for the Red Storm. Sophomore Alan Sou was first to come off court with a 6-3, 6-3 loss to St. John's Trejgut in a nonetheless exciting and competitive match. Dhingra and sophomore Cody Lin were both defeated by similar margins at their respective Nos. 3 and 4 positions, and St. John's was able to clinch the match with a 7-5, 7-5 win at the No. 1 position over Yale's King. The Elis will look to strike back this coming weekend at home again, viewing this match as a valuable learning experience heading into the Ivy League season.
