ORONO, Maine - Saturday morning, the Bulldogs competed at the Murray Keatinge Invitational hosted by the University of Maine. The Yale men finished a strong second with 54 points, but were edged out by Dartmouth's score of 28. In honor of their high team finish, the men received a buoy--awarded in place of a traditional trophy at Maine.

Dartmouth standout Ben True won the individual title--covering the 8,000-meter course in a time of 23:57--leading a charge that put Dartmouth's five scorers in the top ten. The Big Green is ranked No. 4 in the Northeast region, ahead of the seventh-ranked Bulldogs.

Senior Murat Kayali led the way for the Bulldogs, crossing the line in fourth place with a personal-best time of 25:08. Fellow senior Jared Bell was right behind, finishing fifth in 25:09.

The third finisher for the Bulldogs was senior Jake Gallagher, who placed 11th in 25:25. Gallagher, this year's team captain, won this meet last year; however, this was his first race so far this season after sitting out the first two meets.

Sealing the Elis' second-place finish were freshman Jake McKenzie (14th, 25:32) and sophomore Max Walden (20th, 25:37).

Senior John Hinkle had been leading the Bulldog pack in the early stages of the race, but took a fall near the midway part and was unable to make up the lost ground, and finished 25th in 25:43.

In two weeks, the full squad will compete in its final regular-season meet: the Penn State Invitational.
