Yale Ready to Tackle Penn State Dual Meets

Yale Ready to Tackle Penn State Dual Meets

NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Yale women's fencing team returns to competition after a month-long break this Saturday at Penn State. The team will travel to University Park to fence Columbia, Duke, Haverford, Penn State, Temple, U Penn and UNC.

This is a significant opportunity for the Bulldogs to compare their skill to Duke, Haverford, Penn State, Temple and UNC, teams against whom they have not competed in previous seasons. The women are prepared to face stiff competition--Columbia are the 2015 NCAA Champions, and Penn State was the runner-up, as well as the 2014 NCAA Champions.

"We have high hopes for the season; we're excited to show the schools at Penn State what we've got," said senior Megan Murphy.

Prior to their month-long break, the team impressed by showcasing the team's depth at Brandeis in early December. In their season opener, the Bulldogs saw victories against Brandeis, Boston College, Drew and Johns Hopkins.

The team is prepared to move forward this weekend with comparable energy and tenacity. Captain Joanna Lew remaked, "This meet is going to be highly strenuous, but I have a lot of faith in our team and how hard we've trained."
After the tournament this weekend, the team will travel to St. John's the following Sunday.
