NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale field hockey team had 18 student-athletes named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad for the 2018 season Monday, recognizing the Bulldogs' success in the classroom. Yale has had at least 12 honorees for each of the past six years.

The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year. This year's 18 National Academic Squad honorees from Yale included two players who are four-time honorees: seniors Chaney Kalinich (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Marissa Medici (Oceanside, Calif.).

The individual honors come on the heels of Yale as a team earning the NFHCA National Academic Team Award for the 2018 season last week. Yale's GPA for the fall was 3.62, fourth-best in the country. The Bulldogs have earned the National Academic Team Award in each of their 14 seasons under Pam Stuper, Yale's Caroline Ruth Thompson '02 Head Coach of Field Hockey. The award is presented to all NCAA field hockey teams that had a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the fall of 2018.
