Yale Women's Golf Team Kicks Off Spring Season at the Otter Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a successful fall season and challenging winter training, the Yale women's golf team will begin its Spring season Monday, Mar. 19, in Pebble Beach. During the second week of spring break, the Bulldogs will face off against 19 highly competitive teams at the Otter Invitational hosted by CSU Monterey at the Poppy Hills Golf Course. For this two-day tournament, the course will be a par 71 layout with a yardage of 5,804. Tee-off will be at 7:30 a.m. and live scoring will be available on BirdieFire.

The team is ready to make a statement as they open their spring season on the West Coast. Senior and captain Jennifer Peng will be one to watch during the tournament. With an impressive fall season, including a second-place finish at the Princeton Invitational and three top 10 finishes, Peng looks to continue to give dominating performances as her collegiate golf career comes to a close. Fellow senior Jayshree Sarathy will also look to continue the momentum from the fall throughout this spring season. Sarathy gave powerful performances during throughout the fall, including winning her first collegiate tournament at the Bucknell Invite.

Junior Julie Luo and sophomores Felicia Chang and Beryl Wang will also play integral roles on the team this season as the Bulldogs look to place high during the Ivy League Championship in April. Luo has given consistent performances during the fall season and her ability to perform under pressure will be crucial during this week's tournament and throughout the season. Chang and Wang have begun to come into their own on the course this season, each golfing with more confidence with a year of experience under their belts.

Making their debut in spring competition will be two first-years, Gabrielle DeSombre and Lucy Liu. They will both be looking to contribute to the team's success throughout the season. During the fall season, DeSombre placed 8th at the Bucknell Invitational and continued to give strong performances throughout the season.

The tournament marks the first of three competitions for the Bulldogs before the Ivy League Championship.
