Yale Dominates Dartmouth For Sweep

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Getting hot during the winter is always the goal for most people. For the Yale Bulldogs, hot doesn't even begin to describe their January.

The Bulldogs blew out the Dartmouth Big Green 6-0 on Saturday afternoon. For the second straight weekend, Yale swept both games played, and it is currently riding a four game win streak.

Yale (9-10-4, 7-7-2 ECAC) rode the emotions of Friday night's White Out For Mandi win over Harvard into Saturday. Greta Skarzynski picked up where she left off with a first period goal after a smart play from Bulldogs captain Kaitlin Gately. Skarzynki's goal, her 13th of the season, gave Yale a 1-0 lead it would not relinquish.

Gianna Meloni was the big reason why, stopping all 28 shots she faced for her third shutout in her last five starts. With the win, Meloni is now first in the ECAC in save percentage with a stellar .945 on the season. She also is 5-0-0 in 2018.

Dartmouth (5-15-1, 3-12-1) had no answer for Yale in the second period as the Bulldogs dropped four goals in the frame. Laura Anderson and Emma Vlasic scored 35 seconds apart midway through the second, bumping the Yale lead to 3-0. Courtney Pensavalle added a beauty to put the game out of reach, dragging the puck with the toe of her stick before firing it top shelf over the goaltender's shoulder. Emily Monaghan scored on the power play just 1:28 later to make it a 5-0 game. Mallory Souliotis and Julia Yetman each had a big hand in the game, with Yetman contributing four assists and Souliotis adding three of her own. Souliotis finished off the score with an empty net goal late in the third to make it a 6-0 final score.

Yale finished with a 6-1-0 league record in January, bumping its record in ECAC play to 7-7-2 overall.
