Grobman Seeks To Extend Seven-Game Hitting Streak
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a weekend on the road, the Bulldogs are back in the friendly confines of 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to host a doubleheader vs. Central Connecticut. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 2 p.m. ESPN+ has the video.
It's been a busy stretch for the Bulldogs, who have played seven games since last Tuesday. Terra Jerpbak and Sydney Grobman weren't bothered by all the work. Both were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Tuesday for their performances during the stretch. Jerpbak batted .429 (6-of-14), while also notching a pair of victories in the circle. Grobman continued her hot hitting, batting .421 (8-of-19) with two doubles, a home run and five RBI. She leads the team with a .393 overall average and currently has a seven-game hitting streak.
In the circle, Jerpbak currently leads the Ivy League with a 1.93 earned run average and is second with 47 strikeouts.
Central Connecticut (9-10) is coming off a doubleheader sweep of Rider on Sunday. The Blue Devils did it in impressive fashion, banging out 32 hits and winning 12-11 and 18-7.
Sydney Bolan leads the offense with a .400 batting average. She has seven home runs and 25 RBI in 19 games. Rian Eigenmann is hitting .380 with five doubles and 18 RBI.
The Blue Devils have used three pitchers this season who have a combined 5.35 ERA.
