Guerland, the 2007 team captain, has started every game (144) since she arrived in New Haven and has earned honorable mention All-Ivy recognition in each of the last two years. As a junior, she was second on the team in batting average (.293), third in runs scored (26) and fourth in hits (41). She also belted a career-high two home runs. In 14 Ivy League games, she batted .333 (12-for-36) and scored a team-best 10 runs, and in Yale's last eight games, she batted .524 (11-for-21). In a 9-5 victory over Providence, she was 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI. She had three-hit games against St. John's and Fairleigh Dickinson. At the team's post-season banquet, she was named Yale's Most Improved Player. As a sophomore she led the team in at bats (137) and was second in hits (35) and runs scored (19). In a doubleheader with Manhattan, she went 4-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored. Her first career home run came against Robert Morris. Guerland enjoyed a strong rookie season for the Bulldogs as well. She was one of only two players to start all 52 games and finished third on the team in runs (23) and fourth in hits (39). In Yale's doubleheader sweep of Manhattan, she went 5-for-8 with three runs. In all, she had seven multi-hit games. At Bear River High School Guerland captained both the softball and basketball squads. She played shortstop all four years and was named first team all-league as a junior and a senior, and was also named team MVP. She was recognized as the best female athlete in her high school in 2003 and received the Anthony J. Puglia All-City Award for the best Division 3 softball player. At Yale, Christina majors in political science and resides in Pierson College. She is the daughter of David and Nancy Guerland.
