NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's cross country team heads to the University of Virginia this weekend to compete in the Panorama Farms Invitational. The women's 5k race kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and will feature a field of 130 women from 11 schools all across the Eastern seaboard. No. 29 Yale is the only ranked DI school in the competition.

All top-seven finishers at last week's Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet will compete at this meet, looking to develop their ability to work with each other in a much larger field than last weekend. Junior Andrea Masterson led the charge with a dominant performance, crossing the finish line 10 seconds before the rest of the runners. Meanwhile, first years Kayley DeLay and Sevanne Ghazarian made a strong first impression, both scoring for the team by finishing in Yale's top five. It was an especially impressive feat given that it was their first competition. This week at Panorama Farms, they will have the opportunity to develop their ability to compete in larger meets.

Seniors Dana Klein and Katherine Raphael completed the top-five scorers to earn the team a second-place finish, while senior Melissa Fairchild and junior Gabrielle Rinne provided much welcomed support with strong finishes.

The team will have a total of 15 athletes competing this weekend, including the aforementioned athletes. Most notably, junior Ellie Atkinson will make her season debut, adding to the depth of an already strong top-seven squad. She was one of Yale's top runners last season, helping the team get to the NCAA National Championships.
